South Windermere

Located only five minutes away from downtown Charleston, the neighborhood of South Windermere was once part of a public recreational area called The Pleasure Grove. Originally established in the 1930s, the suburban neighborhood of South Windermere features mostly brick ranch style homes and waterfront properties. Despite being located so near to the downtown area, South Windermere is characterized by its surrounding trees, creeks and waterways. Some of the community’s homes also feature docks and beautiful views of Coburg Creek or Wappoo Creek. Due to the convenient location of South Windermere, residents are only minutes away from the area’s many site’s and attractions. Folly Beach is only a 15 minute drive from South Windermere, while the West Ashley Greenway, the South Windermere Shopping Center, the public library and several other businesses, shops and restaurants are within walking distance from the community.
